After 5 days on the road, we arrived in Amsterdam in the evening of Friday 22nd of June. It took until Thursday 21st to reach the port of Harwich, after around 170 miles of cycling. During that time, we camped in parks, fields and back gardens and were shown incredible hospitality by complete strangers. We were frankly blown away by the generosity of people when they heard what we had set out to achieve. We covered the 80km from the Hook of Holland to Amsterdam on Friday, and we decided it was time for a rest day, as we’re all completely knackered.
More on the first leg of our journey will soon be available for viewing in the first episode of the Ride Earth podcast, which should be ready at the beginning of July! In the meantime, keep an eye open for new blog entries and photographs of our experiences. Next, we’ll be heading south through Belgium towards France, where we’re hoping to cover the length of the country fueled entirely by wine and cheese.

I’m also planning on doing a charity bike ride across the Alps next year.
Great stuff, hope it continues to go well and that you all are a support to one another in good times and bad. And remember, ‘big dreams give people something to aim for, and the bigger the dream the more the dreamer achieves’.

Nice one guys, have bookmarked you so I can see your progress. My mountain bike buddy Jon and I started planning to do the same thing (almost the same route too) as you guys at Uni back in ’95 but work, debts, relationships, careers, too many what-ifs and the passing of time have seen our plans lost under dust for now.
Congratulations on getting this far, possibly the hardest part is getting from idea to reality — the rest will all be an adventure.
Jon and I plan to resurrect our plans some day the spark remains and we’re both still biking. I’m sure there are others too out there who’s dreams you’re living (even if it doesn’t feel like it when it’s getting dark and there’s still 20 miles to go!)
