A Quick Trip to Blighty

As you might have guessed from the title of this post, Tenny and I caused something of a stir when we turned up unannounced at my parents’ front door last Sunday night!

We’d been planning the surprise visit for some weeks, but for obvious reasons we were unable to disclose those plans to anyone other than a select few individuals who helped us to orchestrate our arrival.

The 16-day overland voyage took us through 8 countries, as we travelled by train, ferry, bus, ship, car, van and truck, using public transport at the start and switching to hitch-hiking as we came into Western Europe and the prices rose to relatively astronomical levels.

I’d love to write more now, but you’ll have to wait a few more days for the full story! In the meantime, here are a few photos, and you can see more in the Flickr gallery. Don’t worry, this isn’t the sudden end of Ride Earth — I’ll be back in the saddle in a few short weeks, heading south from Turkey towards the heat and sands of the Sahara…
