Help And Get Helped With Expedition Planning This Week

If you’re lucky enough to be in or near London on Thursday April 7th, and you’re planning or have been on an adventure or two, you can’t miss this event at the Royal Geographical Society with IBG headquarters.

From the organiser Alastair Humphreys:

When I was planning to cycle round the world there was so much that I did not know. I was really thankful when a veteran long-distance cyclist agreed to meet me in a pub one evening and answer my questions.

Last year I thought that it could be helpful, now that I have done a few trips, to arrange an evening in a pub when I could try to help other people who are planning their own expedition. Over 100 people turned up. And what was really great about the evening was that so many people came who had already done big expeditions of their own and were able to share their own experience.

It starts at 6:30pm and entrance will cost you a fiver — enough to cover the venue costs and get you a free drink. Here’s a map of the location if you’re unfamiliar.

This looks set to become an evening of mutual benefit to everyone who attends. You can either get a warm, fuzzy feeling from helping people with their expedition plans, or get the benefit of tapping into the expertise of a host of assembled adventurous types, or just wander around a nice building in Central London for the evening.
