In the spirit of sharing knowledge and stories and meeting up with like-minded people, I’ll be taking part in plenty of events over the next few months (hence the new calendar you’ll see in the sidebar of the site). Here are details of two during September:
Journeys With A Purpose (13th Sept)
This Thursday evening, Geography Outdoors and Al Humphreys will be hosting an informal gathering at the Royal Geographical Society in London. The aim is simple: meet, share and inspire under the banner of ‘Journeys With A Purpose’. In attendance will be a mixture of seasoned adventurers and people planning their own journeys, whether that be on foot, bike, under sail or any other means of travel.
I’ll be there sharing my experience of bicycle travel and filmmaking, and I’d love to see as many as possible of you there. It’s a fiver for entry, and there will be beer. There’s more information on the RGS website.
Janapar World Premiere (28th Sept)
Now, this really is exciting! There are now a very limited number of advance tickets available for the World Premiere of Janapar in central London, of which regular readers will know the extensive back-story. It’s been scheduled by Raindance for Friday 28th September at 3pm.

Being the premiere, this is a one-off event and a huge milestone for the project — probably the biggest besides the release itself. I’d love to see a full house of readers enjoying the film’s first public outing, so if you’re interested in coming along, please drop me a line for details.
I have no idea how quickly these tickets will go — but if the demand is high, we’ll happily pressure the festival organisers for a second screening…

That’s all for this quick update. If you can’t make the premiere, don’t worry — there’ll be countrywide screenings over the following months, and I hope to see you at one of them!
